On the way back to Ayodhya, the city of King
Dasarath, the party was stopped by a blinding dust storm. Lord Parasurama,
another incarnation of Krishna, revealed Himself as the cause of the
dust storm, and stepped forth to challenge Rama. He wanted to make
sure Rama was who Parasurama thought He was, and He held another bow
of Lord Shiva, the sister bow of the one Rama had broken. If Rama
could string this bow and shoot the magic arrow, Parasurama would
let Him pass. Of course, Rama did so, proving Himself to be the Supreme
Personality of Godhead, to another form of the Supreme Personality
of Godhead. This is a pastime of the Lord.
