Having sent the chariot driver back to the city, and having left the vicinity of the city of Ayodhya and the forest sages living in the area, Rama, Lakshman, and Sita were now completely alone. Here they met the first of many demons.
This was Viradha, who had animal heads tied to his lance, and who grabbed Sita. A battle occurred, and Rama killed him, releasing him from a curse.
